Michael Maguire

Michael Maguire is an award-winning photographer and furniture designer who has lived in Lakeland, with his wife, Phyllis, since 1984. The Maguires own a creative services company – The Maguires of Lakeland – which they established in 2000, after Michael left The Ledger, where he served as Operations Director. Maguire spent more than 25 years in the newspaper business followed by several more as an industry consultant.

The Maguires have also created a documentary chronicle of the construction of the Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian house on the Florida Southern College campus.

Maguire has been a persistent volunteer in the arts-and-culture community, has appeared in art shows across the county, and in 2014 had a 23-piece photo essay “Louisville & Nashville” on display in City Hall.

Maguire most recently held the position of “consigliere” with Platform Art. He is a graduate of Leadership Lakeland, Class XVIII.

Maguire served on various boards over the last 25 years:

E-mail the commissioners

But one at a time, please!

For the most part, when recipients open an email that includes others they are less inclined to take it personally. Make sure your message resonates by sending it to each commissioner separately.

Scott Franklin - Stephanie Madden -  Sara McCarley - Chad Mcleod

Bill Mutz - Bill Read - Phillip Walker

Each of these noble citizens represents all the rest of us. The four geographic designations - Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast, etc. - apply only to the residency requirements for commissioners, not to their constituents. Bill Read, for instance, lives in the city's northeast quadrant and is likely to be more in tune with the businesses and neighborhoods in that area, but serves us all as our representative to the city management and staff.

It will always help to send your message to City Manager Tony Delgado  because it's his job to implement whatever projects, resolutions, and ordinances the Commission proposes in response to our communication.
